Mount St. Helens

Mount St. Helens Summit w/ Spirit Lake and Mount Rainier in view.

The Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument is one of my favorite places to visit. Each year the scnerey changes.  After the 1980 eruption, the rebirth of hte area has been amazing to watch.  With many disbursed camping options, campgrounds, trails and recreation in the area, there is a little something for everyone.

The Mount St. Helens Institute offers many guided hiking options, including a summit hike, Into The Crater Hikes and many educational options at the multiple visitors centers. Even with Johnston Ridge Observatory being closed this year,  you will find many opporutnities to view the mountain.

I do use AllTrails for trail information. I also recommend you check with the local  ranger station for current conditions, trail closures and weather.
